How do we Support ?

We use creative art as the medium for enabling the recovery process, e.g.; whilst someone is sculpting, a sanctuary is created away from their core root issues.

By using a variety of creative therapies such as stone sculpture, woodwork, blacksmithing and Art. We create a safe place where individuals and groups can regain self confidence and self esteem in a positive and supported environment.   Combining these workshops with psychotherapy we encourage integration by socialising, bonding and a sense of self worth. The holistic processes that are involved gives the person “ A sense of recovery and control back of their life”

You will keep the work you create

What materials will you be using?

You'll be using  either a composite stone  block or Portland Stone. The composite block is a great introduction to the tools and techniques of stone sculpture.  The material is easily shaped enabling the sculptor to achieve results quite quickly.  It also makes transporting your piece less troublesome as the material is relatively light.

You will have opportunity to progress to working with Portland stone which is a tougher material.

Equipment safety and tools

A safe environment is paramount to everyone having an enjoyable day, therefore we provide a safety brief as part of your introduction.

Your piece for the day

Your introduction to sculpture will involve working on a piece of relief sculpture.   After transferring the shape on to your block and watching a short demonstration on using the tools, you begin.  By the end of your day you will have created your own unique sculpture to take home.

Lunch

There will be a break for lunch at about mid day, please bring a packed lunch.  Tea and Coffee will be available all day.

Class size

Keeping the class size small ensures that you will have greater access to advice and support throughout your day. Therefore we'll keep class sizes limited to 6 people
